STARTING DATE: August 2025

SALARY: Based upon the approved Governing Board Salary Schedule

WORK YEAR: Full Time - 200 Days

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

  • The Principal is responsible for total oversight and daily operation of the Early Childhood Intensive Behavior program.

  • To oversee instructional services to the students in an alternative setting in a manner that is compatible with students’ learning and achievement.

  • To oversee academic, social and behavioral supports to students whose significant social, emotional, and behavioral challenges severely impede their educational progress.

  • To oversee the creation and implementation of individualized behavior intervention plans (BIPs), instructional strategies, and therapeutic supports to help students achieve success in the least restrictive environment.

  • The Principal will ensure that staff members are using data driven practices to enhance student’s academic, functional, social emotional successes in the student’s least restrictive environment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A minimum of a master's degree or higher.

  • Valid Ohio certificate/license to serve as an Early Childhood Principal (PreK-3)

  • At least three (3) years of exemplary teaching experience.

  • Holds a valid Ohio Department of Education intervention specialist license (Preferred)

  • Experience with students who have significant behaviors and limited communication skills

  • Ability to adapt and respond to multiple priorities and demands, deal with the concerns of staff/students/parents/school partners in a timely manner, and resolve problem situations in a positive manner

  • Demonstrated leadership ability and willingness/ability to work as a team member

  • Strong knowledge of educational strategies

  • Able to use a variety of communication methods to build relationships.

  • Knowledge of regulatory standards and district policies related to assigned functions.

  • Interpersonal skills necessary to communicate effectively and work productively with all levels of district staff, students, parents and the general public.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to handle problem situations in a tactful, courteous and respectful manner

  • Experience using Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports.

  • Excellent organizational skills.

  • Able to use technology to effectively manage data and information.

  • Ability to analyze and summarize data related to assessment results and develop plans of action to address a variety of program issues and concerns.

  • Confer with supervisors regarding progress, concerns and recommendations

  • Valid driver’s license and daily access to personal vehicle.

  • History of excellent job attendance.

  • Must pass criminal background checks and be free from communicable disease.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Salary and work year as established by the Governing Board. The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or non - prescribed controlled substance use in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the District.


EVALUATION:

Performance of this position will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Support Personnel.
