GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Transition and Vocational Specialist is responsible for developing, implementing and overseeing the transition and vocational program for students at the Butler County Juvenile Detention Center/Juvenile Rehabilitation Center in a manner consistent with the goals and objectives of the district.
QUALIFICATIONS:
A minimum of a bachelor's degree or higher.
Valid Ohio certificate/license as an intervention specialist.
Training or licensure in the area(s) of transition-to-work and/or vocational education preferred.
At least three (3) years of exemplary teaching experience.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent organizational skills.
Ability to pay attention to detail.
Ability to follow oral and written instructions and at times improvise as necessary to complete a task.
Good organizational and time management skills; able to balance multiple projects simultaneously with minimal supervision; attention to detail critical.
Willingness / ability to work independently and as a team member.
History of good job attendance.
Must pass criminal background check; drug and alcohol screening; be free from communicable disease.
Experience with aligning students with vocational programming and post-secondary pathways preferred.
Good written and verbal communications skills.
Exemplary knowledge of pedagogical best practices and curriculum.
Demonstrated leadership ability.
Interpersonal skills necessary to communicate effectively and work productively with all levels of district staff, students, parents and the general public.
Able to use technology to effectively manage data and information.
Valid driver’s license and daily access to personal vehicle.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Salary and work year as established by the Governing Board. The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or non - prescribed controlled substance use in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the District.

Performance of this position will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Support Personnel.
