Position Summary:
The Gymnastics Instructor at the Butler YMCA is responsible for instructing students on the principles of gymnastics. The incumbent will be responsible for the development, organization and implementation of high quality gymnastics programs for youth and teens. The incumbent intentionally fosters a cause-centered culture that is welcoming, genuine, hopeful, nurturing, and determined. This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.
Qualifications:
Minimum age of 16.
- Previous experience working with children in a gymnastics, dance or cheer environment, required.
- Gymnastics knowledge & skills, required.
- Current CPR/First Aid/AED Certification, required.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
Essential Functions:
- Instruct gymnastic classes while following the national YMCA Gymnastics guidelines and curriculum.
- Assist with new student/parent orientations.
- Observe and adjust approach to support all participants’ capabilities, physical conditions, health, and culture.
- Conduct fun, energizing, safe, and developmentally appropriate classes while promoting a positive atmosphere.
- Equipment setup/teardown for weekly classes.
- Maintain accurate records for participants.
- Build effective, authentic relationships with members; help members and program participants connect with each other and the YMCA.
- Maintain program areas and adhere to program standards in regards to equipment, storage, safety and cleanliness.
- Follow YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergency procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
