POSITION DESCRIPTION
Summary: Work involves performing a variety of inspections in environmental health, including on-site sewage systems, consumer protection programs like restaurants, lodging places and day care settings.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
I. Inspection Related Activities 65% of Time
- Maintains an awareness of the Food Code, Lodging Code, and Day Care Guidelines assuring that knowledge base is current.
- Maintains a list of all establishments in the County. Prioritizes the list according to risk and establishes a schedule to conduct the routine inspections assuring that all establishments get an annual inspection and that high-risk establishments get two or more inspections annually.
- Establishes a process and protocol for conducting a routine inspection assuring consistency, thoroughness, and compliance with the relevant code.
- After receiving a complaint, conducts the investigations assuring for professionalism and for compliance with structure established for the investigations. Assures confidentiality.
- As violations are noted, documents violations. Lists standards required by the relevant code. Provides feedback to the manager. Provides dates for corrective action to be completed. Assures for professionalism.
- Re-inspects for compliance ensuring professionalism and the completion of the plan of corrective action. Assures that documentation is current.
- Maintains environmental/Public Health manuals. Keeps manual current and reviews quarterly.
- Develops and provides training and education programming ensuring professionalism and accuracy.
- Participates in organizational strategic planning processes ensuring professionalism.
- Maintains HIPAA safeguards, by using and disclosing health information only as authorized.
II. Well Water Sampling & Rabies Testing Activities 5% of Time
- Maintains an awareness of the relevant guidelines assuring that knowledge base is current.
- Receives requests from citizens to sample well water. Collects samples assuring timeliness and for compliance with collection protocols.
- Submits samples to the appropriate agency. Collects reports and notifies citizens of results assuring professionalism.
- Conducts testing, assuring for compliance with state requirements.
III. Septic System Related Activities 15% of Time
- Responds to requests for septic system permit. Assures that all information is provided. Conducts a site inspection assuring that the plan is being implemented as specified. Documents as needed.
- Upon receipt of a complaint, conducts an investigation. Assuring professionalism and for compliance with the structure established for the investigations. Assures confidentiality. Conducts follow up as needed.
IV. DayCare Inspections 15% of Time
- Establishes a roster of all existing daycare centers in the county, assuring thoroughness and accuracy.
- Conducts inspections, on schedule, assuring for compliance with all applicable state rules and regulations.
- Conducts follow up as needed, assuring for professionalism.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour
