What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Apprentice position at Butler County Redevelopment Authority?
GENERAL PURPOSE
This position performs entry-level maintenance duties assisting in the upkeep and repair of Authority buildings and grounds.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
· Assists maintenance personnel as required.
· Performs janitorial services including sweeping, mopping, cleaning windows, and cleaning restrooms.
· Maintains appearance of buildings and properties.
· Keeps all common areas clean, neat, and free from safety hazards.
· Performs minor electrical services including changing light bulbs, switches, outlets and covers, replacing heating elements in stoves, replacing ceiling fans, light fixtures, and exhaust fans.
· Performs minor plumbing services such as unclogging drains and toilets, removing/installing toilets and replacing faucets, stems and hoses.
· Performs minor HVAC services such as cleaning air conditioners and filters.
· Performs minor carpentry work such as caulking, sanding wood/walls, painting wood/walls,
· Collects and disposes garbage and recycling.
· Assists with vacant turnovers and lock outs.
· Performs other related duties as required/assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
· High School diploma or equivalent.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
· Valid Driver’s License
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge of the methods and techniques general construction, maintenance, and repair related to the area of work assigned.
- Knowledge of the operational characteristics of mechanical equipment and tools used in the area of work assigned.
- Knowledge of occupational hazards and standard safety practices.
- Skill in performing heavy manual labor.
- Skill in communicating clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work environment is both indoors and outdoors; indoors work exposes the worker to moderate noise and temperature levels and outdoors work may require exposure to loud noises, wet or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, high and precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, weather conditions, extreme cold, extreme heat, risk of electrical shock, and vibrations. Travel among worksites is required, which exposes the worker to the hazards incident to travel by vehicle.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The work is medium and requires exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required: balancing, climbing, crawling, crouching, feeling, grasping, handling, hearing, kneeling, lifting, manual dexterity, mental acuity, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motion, speaking, standing, stooping, talking, visual acuity, and walking.

Pay: $30,105.00 - $36,878.00 per year
