What are the responsibilities and job description for the Office Survey Technician position at Butler, Fairman & Seufert, Inc.?
POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for processing survey field data for use by the design staff.
ESSENTIAL DUTIESAND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Processes survey data utilizing Civil 3D including, but not limited to, the creation of surfaces, alignments, cross sections, profiles, pipe networks, and anything else necessary for review of the survey by Department Head and use by design staff.
- Completes the drafting required for the finished survey product, utilizing company and INDOT CAD Standards.
- Prepares survey Field books.
- Creates Location Control Route Survey Plats (LCRSP) for review by Surveyor along with coordinating the recording of the certified plat.
- Plot property lines from deeds when required.
- Process survey data in Trimble Business Center.
- Complete QA/QC of Surveys and LCRSP created by others.
- Manage Field and Office staff as directed by Department Head.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of 5 years’ CAD and/or Survey experience.
- A working knowledge of Trimble GPS, Total stations, and Data Collectors would be preferred but not required.
- Proficient in the use of WORD and EXCEL and the above listed Civil 3D competencies.
- Strong verbal communications skills and the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public are necessary.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is typically indoors and may sit for extended periods of time. Occasionally, work assignments will require time spent outdoors with some physical exertion required when necessary. Occasional out-of-town travel and overnight stays may also be required. Periodic field work may be necessary as workload dictates.
