What are the responsibilities and job description for the Financial Counselor Per Diem position at Butler Hospital?
Job Description:
- Explain financial requirements and insurance/third party payor hospitalization benefits to the patient or responsible party
- Interpret and provide information regarding patients copayment responsibilities and any applicable coinsurance, deductible and lifetime maximums
- Collection of patient liabilities
- Arrange and follows up on payment plans for patients
- Apply appropriate Community Benefit and Prompt Pay discounts as applicable
- Meet with patients who are Medicare exhausted and evaluate for additional payment source
- Meet with patients who do not have the proper benefits for behavioral health services and evaluate for additional payment source
- Review long length of stay patients to ensure proper coverage
- Follow up on missing insurance/financial forms identified by Registration team
- Completion of Missed MSP questionnaire to complete insurance bundle for billing preparation
Special Requirements:
- minimum 3 years of insurance benefit experience required
- Epic experience preferred
- Health Insurance Navigator Certification preferred
