What are the responsibilities and job description for the High School Aviation Instructor position at Butler Tech?
| VISION
Butler Tech is expanding its Aviation program and seeking two additional engaging instructors to join our team to meet the demands of this rapidly growing field.
| GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Aviation Instructor is primarily responsible for the delivery of quality education that adheres to Ohio Department of Education & Workforce curriculum standards. The Instructor employs effective teaching practices to ensure that all students are equipped for success.
The ideal candidate for this role will have industry and/or education experience in the field of Aviation. Based on these credentials, Butler Tech can guide our selected candidates through obtaining teacher licensure.
| HIRING GOALS
We seek instructor candidates with expertise in the following areas:
- Airframe & PowerPlant (A&P)
- Aerospace Engineering, and or
- Drone Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS)
We are flexible regarding the state date for these positions and welcome applicants who are available to begin in the 2024 – 2025 school year or at the start of the 2025 – 2026 school year.
| QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma AND 5 years verifiable experience in a relevant field AND ability to complete Ohio’s alternative teacher licensure process OR current ODE licensure in an Aviation, Transportation, or Engineering area :
- Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certification(s) in primary area of training is a plus;
- Previous teaching experience in academic environment and/or on-line teaching preferred;
- Ability to interact successfully with academic as well as business and regulatory stakeholders;
- Willingness/ability to work with students, teachers and administrators as a team member;
- Effective and demonstrated problem solving, critical thinking, analytical, oral and written communication, and organizational skills;
- State-issued identification card with photograph;
- History of strong work record, including good job attendance, and acceptable criminal record
| STARTING DATE
Starting full time August 2025
|LOCATION
Temporarily housed at Fairfield Township Campus for 2025 – 2026; Will relocate to newly constructed classroom space at Hook Field at Middletown Airport in January 2026
| SALARY
Based upon experience and education ($49,667 – 103,605)

185 days - 7.5 hours/day
