Position Reports to: Senior Programs Manager
Employment Type: Seasonal
Work Schedule: Up to 40 hours/week. Orientation is on May 19th, followed by a regular work schedule of Monday-Friday from May 27th - August 8th.
Hourly Rate: $18.00

Position Summary: The Summer Camp Educator is responsible for leading all aspects of a camp classroom during the 2025 Summer Camp season. The Summer Camp Educator will successfully teach curriculum and monitor a room of up to 25 learners in ages 5-9. The Summer Camp Educator is also responsible for completing State childcare license trainings and adhering to the requirements of the facility childcare licensure.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
- Lead all functions of daily camp programming including implementation and logistics onsite at Butterfly Pavilion.
- Teach interactive nature-based summer camps to youth, ages 5 - 9.
- Work collaboratively with co-counselors in providing and implementing camp curriculum and activities as needed.
- Use live animals to demonstrate science-based concepts to camp participants.
- Implement all policies & procedures to meet the State license requirements.
- Effectively manage classroom of 25 children.
- Attend required branch and facility meetings as needed.
- Medication Administration for all children that require medication in camp (Training will be provided).

Position Requirements and Experience:
- Basic knowledge and interest in the environment and wildlife
- Comfortable interacting with school-aged children and parents

Additional Qualifications:
- Previous experience working with groups of school-aged children in a camp, school, or childcare setting is preferred
- Multilingual candidates are preferred
Must be able to work the following dates:
- Mandatory Butterfly Pavilion Onboarding: May 19th
- Summer Camp Educator Training: May 27th - May 30th
- Summer Camp at Butterfly Pavilion : June 2nd - August 8th, Monday through Friday
- Additional meetings may be required

The employee is occasionally required to reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision. Employee should be able to lift, carry any items up to 50 lbs.
