Job Title: Finance / Business Analyst – Accounting

Position Overview

Button Energy is seeking a highly analytical and motivated Finance / Business Analyst to join our Accounting Department. This role focuses on driving process improvement, financial analysis, and optimizing the use of Sage accounting software. Reporting directly to the Controller, the Finance / Business Analyst will support the company’s financial and operational goals by delivering actionable insights, enhancing data integration, and ensuring accurate reporting. A high priority will be placed on evaluating and improving accounting and operational processes, with close collaboration with the operations team to analyze route efficiency and establish KPIs for operational management. While an accounting degree is preferred, it is not required.

Key Responsibilities

• Process Improvement (High Priority)
• Evaluate current accounting workflows and operational processes to identify inefficiencies.
• Develop and implement strategies to improve accuracy, efficiency, and productivity.
• Introduce automation tools to streamline repetitive tasks and reduce manual effort.
• Collaborate with team members to document updated workflows and provide training as needed.
• Financial Analysis & Reporting
• Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and areas for improvement.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and preparing management reports.
• Support month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring compliance with GAAP standards.
• Collaboration with Operations Team
• Work closely with the operations team to analyze route efficiency and optimize logistics.
• Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for the operations group to manage by.
• Provide actionable insights to improve operational performance and cost-effectiveness.
• Support the alignment of operational goals with overall company objectives.
• Collaboration with the Controller
• Collaborate with the Controller to analyze operational costs, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
• Provide actionable insights to optimize cash flow, inventory management, and expense control.
• Work closely with the Controller to align financial data with strategic goals and operational objectives.
• Sage Accounting System Optimization
• Act as a key resource for Sage accounting software, ensuring its effective use.
• Maintain system accuracy through data entry checks, system updates, and troubleshooting.
• Develop and generate custom financial reports using Sage to meet departmental needs.
• Data Integration & Sharing
• Work with IT and other teams to integrate Sage with other systems for seamless data sharing.
• Develop and maintain financial dashboards to visualize key metrics for leadership.
• Ensure data integrity and consistency across integrated systems.
• Compliance & Risk Management
• Ensure adherence to internal controls, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
• Support audits by preparing necessary documentation and analyzing financial data.

Qualifications

• Education:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred, but not required.
• Experience:
• 2 years of experience in accounting, financial analysis, or a related field.
• Hands-on experience with Sage accounting software is required.
• Technical Skills:
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., pivot tables, advanced formulas) and Sage accounting software.
• Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) is a plus.
• Knowledge of system integration and reporting tools is desirable.
• Soft Skills:
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities.

Preferred Qualifications

• CPA certification or working toward certification.
• Experience in the energy industry or a similar sector.
• Knowledge of Lean or Six Sigma process improvement methodologies.
