As a Science Teacher, you will have the chance to inspire students in grades 7 through 12, encouraging them to become the scientists, explorers, and innovators of tomorrow.
Buxmont Academy has 6 campuses in southeastern PA, where we use restorative practices to encourage both academic and emotional growth in students. Classes are small, ensuring a high teacher-to-student ratio, and our dedicated staff work together as part of an educational team to support each student. We welcome both aspiring teachers and retired educators looking to return to the classroom.
Position Details:
- Hours: Monday through Friday, 11am-3pm, with potential for additional hours or transition to full-time for the right candidate.
- Salary: $25/hour.
- Benefits: 401K retirement plan, free ACT 48 Credit professional development, Employee Assistance Program, and an opportunity to earn a graduate certificate in restorative practices from the IIRP Graduate School.
Qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree or higher in science or a related field.
- Pennsylvania science teaching certification or the ability to obtain certification.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Passion for teaching secondary school-aged students and adapting to their developmental needs.
- Ability to design engaging, effective lessons that align with curriculum standards while utilizing restorative practices.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and the ability to maintain professionalism in high-pressure situations.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively both independently and within a collaborative team.
- Proficiency in computer usage and educational technology.
