BVA Bears IT Solutions is seeking a Application Programmer. This is a full-time, remote role with travel to other Government or Contractor facilities as required. The average workday is 8 hours and the window in which those 8 hours may be scheduled is between 6:00am hours and 6:00pm hours eastern time, Monday through Friday except for Government Holidays with the core hours (9am to 3pm) being covered.
As a Application Programmer you will be responsible for analyzing functional business applications and design specifications in areas such as finance, accounting, personnel, logistics, and contracts. The role involves developing and maintaining software applications that support government operations and processes. The position requires technical expertise to ensure high-quality software development and timely delivery of project milestones.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze functional business applications and design specifications for a variety of government operational areas.
- Develop block diagrams and logic flowcharts to support system design and workflow optimization.
- Translate detailed designs into computer software.
- Test, debug, and refine software to meet program requirements and produce the required outputs.
- Prepare both program-level and user-level documentation.
- Enhance software to improve performance, reduce operating time, or increase efficiency.
- Provide technical direction to programmers and ensure that deadlines are met.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in computer science, information systems, engineering, business, or a related technical discipline OR Three (3) years of equivalent experience in a related field.
- A minimum of five (5) years of experience in information systems design.
- At least three (3) years of experience as an application programmer on large-scale Database Management Systems (DBMS), with knowledge of computer hardware.
- Proven ability to develop complex software applications to meet design and operational objectives.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in a related field.
