You will join our Architecture, Engineering, and Construction Practice and partner with seasoned leaders, technical specialists, and subject matter experts to deliver the highest quality solutions to our clients with consistency and accuracy.

You will be focused on leadership of our most significant and challenging projects, which may include large Engineering Only, EPCm or Program of Projects, in a client-facing project execution role. You will use your extensive experience in all aspects of engineering and construction practices as well as associated leadership competencies. You will enjoy the challenge of fast paced aggressive timelines and derive satisfaction from “doing the impossible”. These projects may be in any of our target sectors, Industrial, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, advanced technology (semi-conductor), food & beverage and other sectors.

What You’ll Do

- Lead projects the “Design Group way,” utilizing established Client Trust project management best practices
- Safely deliver complex projects successfully within scope, on schedule, on budget
- Build client relationships and drives business development through successful project leadership
- Provide project design, operational, engineering, construction, and execution subject matter expertise
- Lead/Support proposal development
- Lead/Support project and design efforts from concept design through start-up
- Oversee the engineering team in preparation of plans, specifications, and contract documents
- Collaborate with clients, engineers, architects, designers, and other technical professionals
- Facilitate site, building, and infrastructure design and construction; proactively solve execution challenges
- Manage all client communications and client expectations
- Manage project timelines, budget, scope, change, and risk
- Evaluate project progress and adjust critical paths for scope completion and budget adherence
- Coordinate with local authorities having jurisdiction (AHJs); ensure compliance with local requirements
- Interface with the construction manager and site manager to resolve design coordination and constructability issues; assist with value engineering efforts
- Prepare proposals and participate in sales presentations
- Make an impact day-to-day with your skills and expertise, strengthening that relationship with our clients and team
- A minimum of 15 years of relevant project management and engineering experience executing capital projects covering design development and coordination, specifications development, cost estimation, budget management, change control management, plan check and permit acquisition, creation of construction and contract documents, and construction administration
- Understanding of all DG services and the interdependency of design and construction leadership when executing successful projects
- Successful track record of delivering large/complex projects or programs
- Perform well in high pressure situations, demonstrates confidence; “runs toward the fire”
- Demonstrate mastery of project management best practice tools and champion of Client Trust program
- Demonstrate knowledge of industry accepted engineering and construction practices
- Sought out by clients and internal leaders to take on challenging projects
- Skilled in conflict resolution, negotiation, and ability to maintain positive rapport in adverse situations
- Project management experience in the oversight of design projects including buildings, building systems, plant utilities, process systems, and/or automation
- A working knowledge of a broad range of engineering disciplines.
- Project execution experience of projects within an A/E/C design firm
- The ability to execute presentations, manage client relationships, and successfully interact with team members
- Solid computer software skills including Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Project
- A willingness to travel for project requirements including installation and start-up activities, client and company sponsored meetings, trainings, industry related seminars, forums, and conventions
- A Bachelor of Science in engineering
