What You’ll Do
We are seeking a talented Licensed Electrical Engineer who thrives on designing large, complex, and unique industrial facility electrical power distribution systems and is knowledgeable of 480V 3-phase power system equipment, configurations and applications.
- Design power distribution, motor control, lighting, and grounding systems for industrial facilities in collaboration with other licensed engineers and designers
- Design low (120V-480V) and medium (2.4kV-35kV) voltage electrical power distribution systems
- Utilize SKM and EasyPower to model electrical power systems and perform short circuit, arc flash, and overcurrent device coordination studies
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, and contractors on new construction/renovation projects
- Develop electrical design specifications and drawings
- Lead projects through the conceptual, preliminary, and detailed design phases
- Present design progress to clients both in-person and virtually
- Review and approve contractor submittals, and respond to RFIs
- Conduct site observations during design, and installation verification walks during construction
- Make an impact day-to-day with your skills and expertise, strengthening that relationship with our clients and team
- Professional Engineering License (PE): A testament to your expertise and dedication.
- 12 Years of Relevant Experience with design for manufacturing, warehouse, or distribution facilities, water/wastewater/storm water treatment plants, large central utility plants, large ports/intermodal facilities, or very large campus-style plants.
- Experience acting as Engineering of Record (EOR). Engaged and design-interactive throughout projects, not just high-level review at the end.
- NEC Proficiency: A strong working knowledge of the NEC, ensuring compliance in all designs.
- Power Distribution Expertise: Knowledgeable in 480V 3-phase power system equipment, configurations and applications. Power distribution, grounding, feeder sizing, cable tray, construction specifications, switchboard and service sizing, connection options and scenarios, power system backup, Life Safety requirements. Minimum projects are generally 2000A and higher at 480V 3-phase. Grounded Wye systems, grounded and ungrounded Delta systems.
- Knowledge of constructability of proposed solutions.
- Knowledge of Power System Analysis and application in design: Ability to calculate and apply Short Circuit Current to equipment ratings, ability to calculate and adjust feeders for Voltage Drop, ability to analyze utility demand readings, practical understanding of time-current curves and application to coordination settings. Ability to adequately size distribution equipment to project needs.
- Lighting Design Knowledge: Proficiency in developing lighting solutions for complex production spaces. Ability to design lighting solutions for areas with multiple levels of platforms and working space, knowledge of IESNA lighting requirements for various types of workspaces, ability to specify fixtures for a variety of environments including hot, wet, cold, hazardous, corrosive, indoor, outdoor, office, warehouse, washdown.
- Knowledge of Energy Compliance requirements, controls and completion compliance documentation (ComCheck, Title 24, EnergyGauge).
- Multi-Discipline Design Exposure: Experience with integrated facilities design.
- Software Skills: Proficiency in eTAP, SKM, Visual, Easy Power, ElumTools, REVIT, AutoCAD, and BlueBeam.
- Exceptional Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills for effective collaboration. and project development. Ability to assess required project information and seek answers from team members, vendors, contractors, equipment suppliers, owner drawings, utility data, etc. Takes initiative to move the project forward and makes timely decisions in support. Takes notes. Documents discussions and organizes information received.
- Willingness to Travel: For site assessments, on-site meetings, and progress observations.
- Educational Background: A Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
