We are seeking a hands-on Mechanical Designer with a focus on custom change parts for packaging machinery to join our dynamic team. In this fast-paced role, you will design mechanical components, inspect manufactured parts, and occasionally travel to customer sites for part measurement, installation, and support. You'll work on a wide variety of machinery, including fillers, cappers, labelers, and more, using tools like SolidWorks and AutoCAD to bring your ideas to life.

We are seeking a hands-on Mechanical Designer with a focus on custom change parts for packaging machinery to join our dynamic team. In this fast-paced role, you will design mechanical components, inspect manufactured parts, and occasionally travel to customer sites for part measurement, installation, and support. You'll work on a wide variety of machinery, including fillers, cappers, labelers, and more, using tools like SolidWorks and AutoCAD to bring your ideas to life.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design custom change parts and tooling for various packaging machines
- Create 3D models, assemblies, and 2D drawings using SolidWorks and AutoCAD
- Ensure designs are manufacturable, functional, cost-effective, and efficient
- Perform engineering calculations for materials, tolerances, and stress
- Manage projects independently, from planning through execution and reporting
- Estimate timelines, handle change orders, and ensure timely, accurate updates
- Collaborate with internal teams, suppliers, and customers to define requirements and resolve issues
- Support manufacturing and procurement with technical guidance and troubleshooting
- Contribute to product design improvements and standard work procedures
- Travel to customer sites for part measurement, installation, inspection, and support (estimated 15 - 20% of the time.)
- Identify and recommend operational improvements during field visits
- 3–5 years of hands-on experience designing mechanical components/hardware (mechanical machinery/manufacturing industry preferred.)
- Proficiency in SolidWorks (3 years) and AutoCAD (3 years)
- Ability to travel up to 20% for project requirements, including installation and customer support.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with all levels of management, clients, and team members.
- Machine design experience.
- Associate's or bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
