Job Summary:
You will be leading a small and dynamic team working together to support the preparation and development of technical and commercial proposals in support of the Business Development and Sales Mangers for their assigned regions along with supporting project execution. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the water/wastewater industry, applicable technologies, integrated solutions along with strong managerial skills.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Lead a team of applications/process engineers in designing and developing integrated solutions for water and wastewater treatment projects.
- Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to understand customer requirements and provide technical support during the sales process.
- Evaluate project specifications and provide technical expertise to ensure that solutions meet client needs and industry standards.
- Manage the application engineering process, including project scheduling, resource allocation, and budgeting.
- Oversee the preparation of engineering drawings, specifications, and other technical documents.
- Conduct technical training for internal teams and clients as needed.
- Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in water/wastewater treatment.
- Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the applications engineering team.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with End-Users, EPCs, consulting engineers, distributors, sales managers, and suppliers.
- Demonstrates critical thinking/problem solving techniques in execution of tasks and ability to multi-task.
- Detail oriented and ability to read and interpret tender requirements, engineering specifications and engineering drawings (P&IDs, PFDs, GAs etc.)
- Strong applications/process knowledge (design, sizing, estimation, etc.) of key process unit operations such as Clarifiers, Filters, Membranes - UF, NF, RO, Ion Exchange, EDI, MBR, MBBR, etc.
- Proven experience in managing a team of engineers and leading complex projects
- Ability to demonstrate teamwork in multi-cultural setting is critical
- Demonstrate effective planning and data analysis
- Demonstrate critical thinking/problem solving techniques in execution of tasks
- Demonstrate a sound understanding of water/wastewater treatment principles and their application in different industries.
- Negotiate with suppliers on both technical and commercial aspects.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe PDF, and AutoCAD
- Learn and demonstrate skills in sizing software (Membranes, Ion Exchange, etc)
- Bilingual or Multi-lingual fluency is a major asset, such as Spanish, Portuguese or Arabic.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical, Civil, Environmental, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- 10 years of application and proposal engineering experience in the water/wastewater industry or a related industry
- 5 years of experience leading a team
