Research Associate - Technology & Media

ROLE AND RESPONSIBLIITIES

We are seeking a Research Associate to join our global team and support our research coverage in the Technology and Media sectors. This individual will be responsible for engaging with industry sources, conducting secondary research, and assisting in the preparation and analysis of research findings. The role offers the opportunity to work closely with senior research leaders across our global Technology and Media team, delivering timely and relevant market intelligence. This is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience and learn from one of the most differentiated investment research firms in the securities industry. Candidates with previous experience in the technology industry, primary research, financial services or experience with enterprise software, networking, or cybersecurity companies are especially encouraged to apply.

The individual in this role will be facilitating the research process by connecting with industry professionals to conduct in-depth interviews, as well as supporting the operations of the research team. A strong candidate for this role is creative, curious and is determined to build a dependable list of industry contacts often viewed as difficult to reach - typically enterprise software implementation partners, resellers and distributors, media buyers and other high-level industry professionals - and maintain those relationships over time.

• Ability to network persistently and develop new industry sources across various enterprise tech topics and engage contacts in the recurring in-depth dialogue over time. Comfort level in customer-facing settings via email, Linked In, over the phone, or in person.

• A general understanding of the key trends shaping the technology and media landscape, ability to identify inflections in trends or strong interest in research and analysis; intellectual curiosity, desire to learn and become well-versed and build subject matter expertise on a given topic.

• Ability to collaborate across multiple research products, including qualitative interviews, written reports, data analysis, and thematic presentations, ensuring consistency and depth of insight across deliverables. 

• Exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational and project management skills. Proactive thinking, ability to meet deadlines, take ownership and work under pressure, including working on multiple projects at different stages. 

• Well-developed, positive communication and analytical skills, as well as excellent interviewing skills; ability to “connect the dots” and clearly articulate research conclusions to sophisticated audiences in a concise manner.

• Knowledge of the financial industry, equity markets and investment basics, prior experience with financial writing a plus.

• Strong technology skills, hands-on experience and high proficiency with MS Office Suite including Excel, Power Point and Word. Prior experience with SalesForce a plus.

• The ability to maintain a positive attitude, self-motivation and confidence. Strong internet research skills and problem-solving skills. The candidate must be a motivated learner.
