Summary Description Of Job
A Nuclear Measurement Specialist (NMS) assists with the establishment, execution, and maintenance of nuclear measurement techniques in accordance to existing facility procedures, applicable national standards, and appropriate regulatory requirements. An NMS also helps to demonstrate/confirm that nuclear measurement equipment is operated safely, reliably, in control, and produces data of the requisite quality. The roles and responsibilities of an NMS are similar to a "NDA Professional", as defined by ASTM C1490.
Major Duties And Responsibilities
The base salary range for this position in Tennessee (US-TN) at the start of employment is expected to be between $56,000 and $88,000 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors, and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, the selected job candidate will be employed 'at-will,’ unless employed at a location and in a position subject to a collective bargaining agreement. The company further reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment, compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and other market factors.

- Apply required basic conceptual knowledge of nuclear measurement practices and associated equipment.
- Solve routine nuclear measurement data and equipment issues using existing procedures and standard practices.
- Safely operate and maintain nuclear measurement equipment/system.
- Perform routine measurement control activities.
- Perform data collection, data evaluation, and NuMAC entry.
- Assist senior-level Nuclear Measurement Specialist(s) in performing routine instrument qualification, calibration, and validation.
- Assist senior-level (i.e., Level 4-6) Nuclear Measurement Specialist(s) in the supervision and training of nuclear measurement equipment operators.
- B. S. -- Technical degree in Physics, Chemistry, Engineering, Science or other degree as deemed appropriate by the Radiation Protection Unit Manager OR in lieu of a B. S. degree, 8 years relevant experience.
- With B. S. Degree one year or less; without B.S. degree 8 years relevant experience.
