BWXT is currently seeking a Senior Manager, Corporate Security for its Lynchburg, VA, Tysons Corner, VA, or Washington, DC location!

The Senior Manager, Corporate Security is preferred to be in Lynchburg, VA however, a hybrid schedule with travel to one of the three locations can be discussed.

This position is responsible for the governance and oversight of all enterprise-wide security programs including their overall direction, management, and operation. This position supports and mentors the company’s site/organizational security leadership to ensure performance excellence and regulatory compliance. Interacts and communicates with senior company executives, general managers, primary customers and other outside law enforcement and security agencies as necessary. Develops and promulgates company security policy through written corporate policies and procedures. Conducts audits of security program elements to ensure that company policies and security objectives are being accomplished and operations support is efficient and effective. Collects, analyzes, and reports security performance data to support corporate security oversight, company quarterly business reviews and board of directors’ meetings. This position develops, modifies, and executes security strategy and support in alignment with the company’s strategic plans. This role will spend 25% of the year traveling to various sites nationwide and internationally.

This position has an enterprise-wide scope of responsibility and influence with stakeholders across multiple locations and organizational levels. The director must collaborate and partner with security professionals and Operations leaders to successfully perform the job of this position. This position will lead a small team 5-6 of security professionals.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities

  • Establishes and oversees security-related plans and training for crisis response, disaster recovery, evacuation, workplace violence, and other emergency events.
  • Leads BWXT cross-functional team to apply intelligence techniques to external operating environments to mitigate geopolitical and security risks and facilitate strategic decision-making.
  • Manages corporate executive protection program to deliver risk informed protection services for designated personnel and events.
  • Maintains visibility of complementary security efforts across the risk management framework to provide integrated cross-functional threat and mission assurance assessments.
  • Oversees the maintenance, modernization, training and use of emergency notification tools and capabilities.
  • Develops and implements security strategies, policies, and standards to ensure the physical security of visitors, employees, and customers at the organization’s facilities.
  • Leads efforts to develop short and long-term security improvement strategies.
  • Develops and supports implementation of strategic programs and initiatives that ensure the sites are compliant with security regulations.
  • Conducts research, risk assessments, audits, and inspections to identify and mitigate security vulnerabilities or gaps.
  • Develops and implements education programs and communications on security policies and topics to ensure site staff and employees are well-informed and equipped to manage potential security issues.
  • Participates in local, state, and federal working groups to stay informed about security related information, directives, and events.
  • Oversees investigations and critical event responses in coordination within BWXT guidelines and policies, law enforcement, and other agencies.
  • Develops partnerships and fosters relationships with business unit leadership to establish security goals and objectives that support the business as well as enhance the security program.
  • Provides subject matter expertise, advice and solutions that mitigate physical security risks.
  • Leads on strategic initiatives in partnership with key stakeholders, supports mergers and acquisitions and bid and proposal efforts.
  • Provides security support and services to all sites across corporate, Government Operations, and Commercial Operations, as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in law enforcement, criminal justice, security, science, engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum of fifteen (15) years’ experience in mission assurance, intelligence or security with manufacturing operations or government agencies. Candidate shall have demonstrated experience with increasing levels of management and leadership responsibility during their tenure.
  • Experience conducting mission assurance and physical security performance assessments and the development of site defensive strategies to comply with NRC, DOE, and DOD regulations.
  • Experience in regulatory development, inspection, and the enforcement processes highly desirable.
  • Strong research, intelligence gathering and project management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to consistently deliver on commitments and achieve expected business results.
  • Ability to quickly and effectively synthesize and summarize large amounts of information from multiple sources into concise, analytic assessments.
  • Ability to interact effectively in written, verbal, and presentation formats, at all levels and across diverse cultures.
  • Ability to serve as an effective team leader.
  • Ability to adapt as the external environment and organization evolves.
  • Must be highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail.
  • Must be able to demonstrate superior written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen with no dual citizenship.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) clearance.

Pay: $156,000 - $200,000

The base salary range for this position in Virginia (US-VA) at the start of employment is expected to be between $156,000 and $200,000 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors, and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, the selected job candidate will be employed 'at-will,’ unless employed at a location and in a position subject to a collective bargaining agreement. The company further reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment, compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and other market factors.

Position requires U.S. citizenship with (no dual citizenship) ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance which involves an extensive criminal and financial background investigation, drug test and previous employment reference verifications.
