Retail Operations Manager

By the Way Bakery is an upscale gluten-free, dairy-free, and kosher pareve bakery. We have four retail locations in the greater NYC area (UES, UWS, Hastings-on-Hudson, Greenwich, CT) and a packaged line sold at Whole Foods, Sprouts, and other specialty grocers.

The By the Way Bakery Flex Manager would assist in maintaining smooth operations for our four stores. Working shifts in all four stores, ensuring that procedures are being followed, shifts are covered, and any issues are being addressed. This position is an active one, requiring you to be on your feet for entire shifts, performing the same duties as the retail associates, in addition to other duties.

Responsibilities:

Overseeing that BTW and DOH requirements are being followed by the store sales associates. Leading by example, ensuring that each employee is fostering a positive environment within the bakery. At BTW, our customers are our guests from the moment they walk in the door so making customers feel welcomed and accommodated is a priority. Ability to multitask in a fast paced environment, while not sacrificing customer service or any health/BTW procedures.

Responsibilities include:

• Merchandising the store, always having the store look as appealing to customers as possible.

• Knowledge of inventory control, ordering necessary items for the store, both from outside distributors and from the retail office.

• Continuing to coach and train BTW store associates and managers in customer service etiquette and all operational procedures, including: daily operations from opening to closing, handling customer inquiries, being knowledgeable of product, restocking, taking custom orders, cleanliness of the store, following DOH guidelines.

• Ensuring procedures are being followed by the employees on shift.

• Supporting the store manager with reviewing resumes, interviewing, and hiring new employees.

• Handling problems that arise, through creative solutions to always ensure the customer leaves satisfied.

• Providing coverage for any necessary open shifts or last minute emergencies.

• Make deliveries between stores when necessary.

• Collect and count store deposits

Qualifications:

Ability to work weekends and holidays

Must have a car. You will be reimbursed for gas and tolls when traveling between stores.

Be able to travel to all four locations, 2 in Manhattan, 1 in Greenwich, Connecticut and 1 in Hastings. Part time: Four days a week (at minimum)

Previous food service experience preferred
