By the Way Bakery is a high-end bakery that creates delicious baked goods that happen to be gluten-free, dairy-free, and kosher pareve. Our baked goods are, without exception, worth a special trip because they’re as good as, if not better than, conventional baked goods. BTW is a “micro-chain” of four small brick and mortar stores with a partnership with Whole Foods and several restaurants and cafes throughout the area.
The By the Way Bakery Manager oversees the daily operations of a brick-and-mortar location, ensuring adherence to procedures, coverage of shifts, and resolution of any issues. This role is hands-on, with the manager remaining on their feet throughout the shift, performing both managerial tasks and the same duties as retail associates. Managers must be able to lift up to 50 lbs when deliveries arrive.
Responsibilities:
- Multitask in a fast paced environment, while not sacrificing customer service or any health/BTW procedures.
- Customer service, BTWB customer service training and coaching employees in all procedures, including: daily operations from opening to closing, handling customer inquiries, being knowledgeable of product, restocking, taking custom orders, cleanliness of the store, following DOH guidelines.
- Merchandising the store, always having the store look as appealing to customers as possible.
- Inventory control, ordering necessary items for the store, both from outside distributors and from the commissary kitchen.
- Scheduling, create the employee schedule for store associates
- Recruitment & Hiring, Recruit, interview and hire candidates for the counter associate position. Evaluating candidates based on business needs and team dynamics.
- Culture & Teamwork, Cultivate a professional, team-oriented environment that fosters pride in the brand among employees.
- Leading by example, ensure each employee contributes to a positive environment within the bakery. Understand your team’s abilities and how they contribute collectively.
- BTW and DOH requirements are being followed by the store sales associates.

Ability to work 5 shifts weekly including weekends and holidays (mandatory Rosh Hashanah and Thanksgiving week)
