Byja Clinic is a patient-centered, community-driven Direct Primary Care (DPC) practice located in Baton Rouge, LA. We are currently seeking a reliable, dedicated, and detail-oriented Medical Assistant (MA) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our team. This individual will play a vital role in delivering high-touch clinical care while also supporting administrative workflows in partnership with our DPC physician. The ideal candidate must also demonstrate a consistent commitment to reading and thoroughly reviewing patient records, clinic documentation, and operational procedures to support both personal and clinic-wide success.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care, including obtaining vitals, conducting assessments, and assisting with procedures
- Perform phlebotomy and process laboratory specimens according to established protocols
- Administer medications, including injections and vaccines, under the direction of the physician
- Triage patients by phone and in person, using sound clinical judgment to assess urgency
- Manage clinic inventory, sterilize equipment, and ensure the clinical space is clean and organized
- Respond to patient inquiries, schedule appointments, and resolve service-related concerns with professionalism and care
- Collaborate closely with the clinical and administrative team to ensure a seamless and high-quality patient experience
- Document all patient interactions accurately and promptly in the electronic health record system
- Regularly review clinic policies, patient documentation, and relevant communications to remain aligned with clinical and operational protocols
- Educate patients on Byja Clinic’s DPC membership model and guide them through the enrollment and orientation process
- Assist in conducting consultations with prospective members and onboarding new patients
Qualifications
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), or equivalent credential OR
- Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with current, unencumbered license in the state of Louisiana
Additional Requirements;
- Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in an outpatient setting; DPC or primary care experience preferred
- Demonstrated proficiency in phlebotomy, lab processing, and medication administration
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to complete a range of tasks in a dynamic environment
- Comfortable working independently and taking initiative as a self-starter
- Consistently punctual, dependable, and willing to go the extra mile to ensure exceptional patient care and operational success
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a customer-service mindset
- Experience with EHR systems and a willingness to adopt new technologies as needed
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities, including clinical care, administrative tasks, and patient onboarding
