Job Description

We’re looking for a highly motivated, experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our facilities team!

Position Duties and Responsibilities:
- Follows emergency response procedures
- Responsible for environmental compliance (i.e., spill reporting, hazardous waste inspection)
- Performs other duties as required by supervisor
- Must be available to perform emergency repairs when required
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision
- Perform wintertime snow removal duties
- Maintain the facility to a high standard with regard to safety and appearance· Good mechanical abilities and aptitude
- Ability to work 12 hour shifts
- Must be available to perform emergency repairs when required and respond to call-ins
- Employee will be required to lift 75# ladders and carry them at least 40 feet (frequently)
- Employee will be required to lift 100# from floor to 4 inches to move charge pumps onto a pallet (occasionally)
- Employee will be required to lift 75# between floor and shoulder heights to perform various tasks requiring maintenance, including pipe fitting
- Employee will be required to perform the following tasks frequently: overhead reaching, bending, squatting, stair climbing, ladder climbing, crawling, kneeling, and, stooping
- Employee will be required to perform fine motor activities including nut/bolt manipulation, using a screwdriver, and wiring
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent Ability to read and understand designs and schematics
- Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
- Ability to multi-task, organize, and prioritize work
- Licensed in mechanical trade-license to be kept current
- 5 years of maintenance experience
- Proficient in all types of welding is a plus
- Pipe fitting skills - measurement, layout, fabrication, installation
- Basic trade skills, i.e., carpentry, masonry
- Working knowledge of pumps, compressors, and boiler maintenance/repair
- Working knowledge of electrical equipment and circuitry
Knowledge & Skills:
- Licensed in mechanical/electrical trade-license to be kept current (Welder, Millwright, Pipefitter, EI Technician)
- Able to maintain records of repairs and modifications of equipment through work order software
- Must be aware of hazardous waste requirements
- Must successfully complete appropriate D.O.T. Hazmat training
- Participates in emergency response as defined in the program and training capability
- Must successfully complete RCRA training according to job function and the regulations
- Working knowledge of pumps, compressors, and steam boilers
