Job Description
Companion Sitter Respite services include non-hands-on care, socialization, and basic supervision to ensure a client’s safety and well-being. Companion Sitter Respite may provide light housekeeping tasks, which are secondary to the care and supervision of the client.
Education/Qualifications
Companion/Sitter Respite services include, but are not limited to the following activities:
- Provide companionship and maintain a safe environment for the client;
- Reading mail, writing, and correspondence for the client
- Perform light housekeeping
- Clean bathrooms
- Keep living areas free from clutter
- Reminding the client to start or finish meals
- Check smoke alarm
- Dispose of garbage
Requirements
- Companion Sitter Respite services shall not include any personal or hands-on care, tasks, or treatments outside of the scope of practice deemed safe and permissible by Byrams Homecare and the client's Plan of Care
- Companion Sitter Respite care shall be delivered in a caring and respectful manner, per relevant Byrams Homecare policies
- Companion Sitter Respite services shall only be assigned to those employees who have demonstrated competency and the necessary to meet the needs of the client
- Employees shall be informed of, and understand the extent and limitations of services provided by the Byrams Homecare
- Employee works cooperatively with personnel of other community agencies involved in the client's care as directed by the RN Supervisor CSR Supervisor
- Employee must show respect and dignity for the client being served
- Employee must follow agency policies and procedures
- Responsible for maintaining open lines of communication between office staff, clients, and their family
Physical Demands:
Good mental and physical health. Must be able to function smoothly and efficiently under stress
Working Conditions:
Working indoors, in contact with agency staff and clients, and working outdoors in the community to and from the client’s residence

Additional Requirements
- Must have reliable transportation for work; use of a telephone
- You will be supervised directly by the CSR Supervisor
