Position Overview:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Assistant Bookkeeper to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will support the accounting department by maintaining financial records, processing transactions, and assisting with various bookkeeping tasks for multiple clients. This role is essential for ensuring accuracy in our financial operations and will provide opportunities for professional growth within the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate financial records through double entry bookkeeping practices.
  • Communicate professionally with team members and clients.
  • Process accounts payable and ensure timely payments to vendors.
  • Assist in preparing budgets and forecasts to support financial planning.
  • Perform bank reconciliations to ensure consistency between bank statements and company records.
  • Utilize financial software to record transactions and generate reports as needed.
  • Support corporate accounting functions by assisting with month-end close processes.
  • Stay updated on tax regulations and assist in preparing necessary documentation for compliance.
  • Collaborate with team members to improve accounting processes and enhance efficiency.
  • Process payroll for multiple clients using Quickbooks.
  • Follow processes to ensure absolute confidentiality and security of company and client information.
  • Accurately record all income, expenses, and financial activities using accounting software.
  • Ensure the accuracy of the general ledger by reconciling accounts and correcting discrepancies.
  • Create and send invoices, manage supplier bills and receipts, and ensure proper documentation.

Required Skills, Experience, and Abilities:

  • A solid understanding of accounting principles, including double-entry bookkeeping, debits and credits, and financial statements (balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements).
  • Accuracy and speed in entering financial data into accounting software.
  • Strong mathematical skills for performing calculations and analyzing financial data.
  • Strong understanding of accounts payable processes and budgeting techniques.
  • Familiarity with bank reconciliation procedures and financial software applications.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret financial data accurately.
  • Ability to work alone and collaboratively within a team environment while maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Ability to act with integrity and handle confidential information responsibly and ethically to protect financial data.
  • Experience explaining technical/financial matters clearly and simply to stakeholders.
  • Strong critical thinking skills, and ability to identify anomalies/issues and determine the reasons behind them by using relevant information and by asking the right questions.

Preferred (but not required):

  • Experience with corporate accounting practices.
  • Knowledge of tax regulations and financial concepts.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred (Not Required)
  • 3 years of experience in Bookkeeping or related role (Required)
  • Certification or degree in Accounting or related field (Not Required)
