General Description :
The Procurement Specialist is responsible for completing assigned duties to ensure procured materials are ordered within proper lead times, within proper order quantities while maintaining acceptable inventory levels. The Procurement Specialist does this by maintaining and updating planning tools used as procurement data to assist in best procurement practices and utilizing computer systems to generate vendor purchase orders. The Procurement Specialist will also be responsible for working with vendors to confirm due dates, quantities on orders, as well as any known delays. The Procurement Specialist will be responsible for submitting receiving paperwork to AP for payment upon delivery. The Procurement Specialist completes these functions in support of the manufacture of dairy-related products.
Job Responsibilities :
- Aids and supports all areas in the production / sales teams as assigned by Supervisor / Manager regarding material due dates, materials on order etc.
- Responsible for updating and maintaining planning tools used in daily procurement duties.
- Responsible for analyzing and identifying current inventory levels, and placing orders with vendors as procurement needs dictate, maintaining optimal inventory levels to ensure supply to operations.
- Adheres to best procurement practices by identifying order quantities, adhering to lead times, identifying increased needs, and working with carriers regarding material pickup and delivery.
- Responsible for utilizing computer systems to generate purchase orders and submit purchase orders with vendors via set submittal procedures with each vendor.
- Maintains vendor files and updates data as needed (examples pricing, order quantities, reorder set point.)
- Responsible for the procurement of targeted materials as required or requested, to include raw materials (Sucrose, Canola Oil etc.)
- Ensure accurate record keeping and document control of associated documents to the Procurement Specialist role, communicating with AP to ensure proper timely payment of invoices, and perform assigned data entry duties.
- Communicate with Supervisor / Manager on any potential or existing issues that could affect plant production (delayed deliveries, vendor delays, inventory errors etc.)
- Responsible for achieving assigned goals in safety, quality, performance, and cost.
- Responsible for complying with GMPs, SOPs, corporate and / or plant policies, rules, and regulations.
- Covers breaks and lunches and other staffing needs as assigned by their leadership team.
- Works in a safe manner reports safety concerns promptly to their leadership team and takes corrective actions as necessary to ensure a safe environment.
- Demonstrates strong communication skills across various departments, ensuring clear and effective collaboration.
- All other duties assigned by leadership.

The wage range for this role considers the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. At Byrne, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $63,500 to $79,500.
