Role Description
Byrne & Jones Construction is seeking a Senior Superintendent with asphalt experience at our Columbus, OH location. This position is key in overseeing the day-to-day asphalt operations and is responsible for developing and implementing our organization's strategies, goals, and objectives.
Job Responsibilities
Your responsibilities as the Senior Superintendent - Asphalt will include, but not be limited to the following:
- Safety enforcement for all field employees.
- Work with the fleet manager/safety manager to coordinate equipment purchases.
- Participates in the hiring and terminations of field employees, foremen, and/or superintendents.
- Works with superintendents to relay job/project information to the field.
- Meet or exceed division monthly and yearly net profit goals.
- Shut down jobs if/when necessary (Safety, Production, weather, missing details, etc.)
- Manage the flow of work, scheduling staff based on workload.
- Development and training of field employees.
- Retention of our field employees that meet our goals and fit our culture.
- Coordination with other divisions concerning manpower and equipment resources.
- Onboarding of new field employees.
- Management of field safety program. Conduct jobsite safety inspections, provide toolbox talks for foremen use, track completion of toolbox talks, and help assist safety incentive program.
- Manage daily/weekly/monthly scheduling and coordination of manpower, equipment, material, and trucking for completion of contracted work.
- Manage daily equipment mobilizations and coordinate Heavy Job time entry for them.
- Update GM with important issues that come up in the field including breakdowns, subcontractor lack of performance, client dissatisfaction, disputes, jobsite delays, weather delays, injuries, and near misses – the goal is no surprises. Communication is the key to our success!

Role Qualifications:
- Minimum 10 years in the asphalt industry and 5 years managing people.
- Knowledge of the commercial paving industry, equipment, means and methods.
- Knowledge of multiple operational functions, including finance, employee management, customer service, and production
- Proven ability to plan and manage operational processes for efficiency and productivity.
