Title: Health Educator
Reports to: Director of Education Services
Job Description:
As a Health Educator, you will be responsible for designing, teaching, and evaluating health education programming. You will work closely with schools, community organizations, and businesses to deliver engaging and informative programming.
Responsibilities:
- Develop comprehensive health education curricula and materials tailored to the needs of diverse populations, including students, parents, and community members.
- Deliver interactive education programming on topics such as nutrition, physical activity, mental health, substance abuse prevention, and much more.
- Collaborate with schools, healthcare providers, and community partners to identify priority health issues and develop strategies for addressing them.
- Conduct program evaluations to measure the impact and effectiveness of health education initiatives.
- Stay informed about current health trends, state education standards, research findings, and best practices in health education and promotion.
- Participate in community outreach activities, health fairs, and other events to raise awareness about health-related issues and resources.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of program activities, participant demographics, and evaluation results.
- Assist with fundraising efforts to support the expansion and sustainability of health education programming.
- Collaborate with other members of the Byrnes Health Education team to develop and implement integrated health promotion initiatives.
- Other responsibilities may be delegated as required.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in health education, public health, community health, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Experience working in health education, community outreach, or public health promotion.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences and build effective relationships.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software applications.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team.
- Flexibility to work some evenings as needed for program delivery and events.
- Valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation
