What are the responsibilities and job description for the Safety Specialist position at BYSTRONIC MANUFACTURING AMERICAS LLC?
BASIC FUNCTION
The Safety Specialist will work closely with the manufacturing team, field staff, clients, subcontractors, and all levels of management to develop and maintain the Safety Handbook, procedures, training, and audit programs to enhance our Health & Safety programs. The Safety Specialist will conduct inspections, support accident investigations, conduct safety trainings, and help define the safety culture of the organization.
- Responsible for the planning, implementation, control, and optimization of operational processes in health, safety, and environment.
- Maintain OSHA Injury & Illness record keeping of 300, 300A, and 301 forms and submit on-time.
- Coordination and cooperation with the authorities.
- Advise management on HSE issues as well as the responsible managers and employees in the areas of environmental protection, health protection and occupational safety.
- Assist with training and instruction in HSE areas.
- Develop and maintain proper KPIs such as TCR (total case rate) and report monthly.
- Timely organization of certifications, management of external audits and implementation of internal audits.
- Maintain and improve our management system and manuals to be OSHA compliant.
- Carry out risk assessments and suggestions for improvement as well as initiating and monitoring system corrective measures.
- Control and monitor compliance with environmental and safety laws and regulations and provide technical support to ensure HSE requirements are met.
QUALIFICATIONS
KNOWLEDGE:
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental health and safety, or related field.
- Knowledge of principles of accident prevention, safety, OSHA regulations required.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with others.
- Familiarity with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.
- Experience performing risk assessments, audits, and root cause analysis.
- Ability to travel up to 5% of time domestically to conduct safety inspections on field service engineers.
- Minimum of (5-6) years of job-related experience.
- Previous work experience in a dynamic manufacturing organization.
