Preferred Experience: The candidate will demonstrate unusual potential for excellent teaching of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. This will often, but not always, be demonstrated by teaching experience in religious education in the Church Educational System.
Duties: Teach assigned classes in Church History & Doctrine (Rel C 200 Eternal Family; Rel C 333 Living Prophets). Classes could be day, evening, Salt Lake Center, Online, or Independent Study-University.
BYU’s Department of Church History & Doctrine is dedicated to furthering the mission of Brigham Young University and BYU Religious Education to teach the restored gospel of Jesus Christ from the scriptures and modern prophets in a way that helps each student develop faith, become lifelong disciples of Jesus Christ, and strengthen their ability to find answers, resolve doubts, and respond with faith.
In a cover letter, candidates should describe their qualifications for—and interest in—teaching the Foundations of the Restoration course, including academic training, past teaching experience, and other evidence of competency and proficiency for teaching the course.
