Job Title: OB/GYN Biller

Job Summary:
The OB/GYN Biller is responsible for performing billing and coding duties specific to the obstetrics and gynecology specialty, ensuring that claims are submitted accurately, timely, and in compliance with insurance and government regulations. This role is vital to the financial health of the practice, requiring attention to detail and strong knowledge of OB/GYN procedures, medical coding systems, and insurance policies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Medical Coding: Accurately apply ICD-10 (International Classification of Diseases), CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), and HCPCS (Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System) codes for OB/GYN services, including routine exams, prenatal care, surgeries, and other gynecological treatments.
- Claim Submission: Submit claims to insurance companies, government programs, and patients using practice management software. Ensure that all claims are accurate and meet coding standards.
- Insurance Verification: Work with the front desk and insurance companies to verify patient coverage and eligibility for OB/GYN services.
- Patient Billing: Prepare and send bills to patients for services rendered, explaining charges clearly, and following up on outstanding balances.
- Insurance Follow-up: Monitor the status of submitted claims, investigate denials, and work with insurance carriers to resolve billing issues.
- Accounts Receivable Management: Track outstanding payments and follow up on unpaid claims, including sending reminders, contacting insurance companies, and facilitating payment arrangements when necessary.
- Compliance and Documentation: Ensure all billing practices comply with federal, state, and payer-specific regulations, including HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) and coding guidelines.
- Reporting: Prepare reports related to billing performance, including revenue reports, denial analysis, and other key metrics.
- Collaboration: Work closely with physicians, office staff, and insurance representatives to resolve billing issues and ensure accurate record-keeping.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Certification in Medical Billing and Coding (e.g., AAPC, AHIMA) is preferred.
- Experience: 2-3 years of experience in medical billing and coding, preferably in OB/GYN or another medical specialty.
