Microbiology Lab Technician
Position Summary:
The Microbiology Lab Technician is responsible for performing microbiological testing and ensuring the appropriate product disposition of raw materials, batches, and finished products throughout the manufacturing process.

- Conduct microbiological testing on raw materials, in-process batches, and finished products using aseptic techniques.
- Assess and determines the disposition of micro-sensitive products, providing necessary information to the manufacturing and planning teams.
- Perform routine audits and inspections to verify the cleanliness of production equipment, tools, and vessels.
- Collect and maintain microbiological retain samples of raw materials, batches, and finished products.
- Oversee daily maintenance of laboratory equipment, cleanliness, and inventory of microbiology lab supplies.
- Review test results and verify calculations performed by other technicians for accuracy.
- Ensure proper documentation and review logbooks for product releases.
- Mentor and provide guidance to entry-level technicians.
- Conduct facility audits, environmental monitoring, and random sampling of production equipment, tools, and vessels.
- Report any test results that exceed action or alert levels and escalate out-of-specification results to management.
- Collaborate with lab management and technical services to support micro-sensitive pilot evaluations and testing.
- Work closely with the lab manager to identify and resolve laboratory challenges efficiently.
- Perform other lab-related duties as assigned.
- Availability to work weekends at least once per month or as needed.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; coursework or degree in a related scientific field is preferred.
- 2–3 years of experience in a microbiology laboratory or a related environment.
- Experience with aseptic techniques and microbiological laboratory procedures is preferred.
- Prior work experience in a microbiology lab within a manufacturing setting is an advantage.
- Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) is required.
- Experience in an FDA-regulated environment is preferred.
