Position Summary:
Monitors and conducts inspections required by facility permitting. Follows work instructions and verbal instructions for tasks related to inspection, monitoring, and corrective actions related to National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) and Industrial Wastewater Pretreatment (IWP) Permit. Performs some duties related to Storm water, NPDES, Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), and IWP permit programs.
Specific Responsibilities:
Two-year degree in related field
Class “B” WWT license from the State of Indiana
Minimum threes year’s work experience in maintenance or equipment troubleshooting
Written and oral communication skills
Ability to enter data on computer
Working Conditions
Performance of responsibilities of position occurs in a manufacturing office environment and on the production floor or exterior areas of the facility. Safety hazards and environmental conditions may require the use of personal protective equipment. Individual may need to be available for weekend work or on call depending on situation. This position requires the use of standard office equipment (telephone, fax, photocopy machine, personal computer, printer), lifting up to 50 pounds, and may involve climbing ladders. Some travel may be required in this position.

Position Summary:
Monitors and conducts inspections required by facility permitting. Specific Responsibilities:
- Conduct daily environmental facility walk around inspection of out-falls, control equipment, roof, and RCRA storage and surrounding grounds.
- Assure all compliance with NPDES, Storm water, and NPDES Permits pertaining to process effluent.
- Conduct and record daily visible out-falls and monitor as needed.
- Conduct rainwater sampling during storm events.Package and properly document samples and ship to laboratory.
- Document daily WWTP flow (Memtek) and prepare monthly reports to State and Federal Agencies.
- Develop and maintain Waste Profiles.
- Be prepared to respond to spill conditions that effect any plant out-fall.
- Provide and maintain Pollution Prevention Plan and opportunities.This includes procedures, training, interaction with facility personnel, etc.
- Cross train other Environmental Technicians and maintain cross training in their functions.
- Attend training sessions for NPDES, IWP, Storm water, etc. to maintaining Class “B” Wastewater Operators License.
- Otherwise, support Environmental Administrator as needed to attain complete compliance with NPDES and IWP permits.
- Manage chemicals and chemical delivery system for cooling towers.
- On call 24 hours a day/7 days a week for any potential problems with Wastewater Treatment or spill.
- All other duties,
- Decisions made or actions taken on own authority.
- Recommend to management when equipment needs repair or replaced.
- Discuss problem areas with maintenance, Environmental Administrator, other Environmental Technicians, etc., as needed to come to a workable solution in order to maintain permit and regulatory compliance.
- Decisions/actions that require support of associates or higher approval:
- New policies and procedures.
- Corrective action required.
- Program expenditures.
