65% Underwriting and Analysis
- Analyze financial and non-financial information that is required for prudent loan approval and risk management practices
- Develop appropriate questions from analysis and work with the Relationship Manager(s) to ensure complete underwriting and documentation packages
- Perform complete and accurate cash flow analysis, to include Debt to Income ratios
- Create complete and accurate credit memo
- Acts as a credit services contact for Relationship Managers with questions about the Bank’s loan products and Loan Policy
- Assists with employee education and training as related to consumer underwriting, consumer loan regulations, and process training
- Participates in regular lending compliance meetings and projects
- Assists with loan pipeline activity reporting on a monthly or quarterly basis
- Assists with special projects and other duties as assigned
Knowledge:
- Three to five years of previous related banking experience, including underwriting consumer, real estate, and/or small business loans.
- A demonstrated understanding of the principles of lending and loan processing is required.
- Experience and a level of proficiency with Microsoft Office preferred.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, math, and PC skills are required. Strong rapport-building, decision-making, and problem-solving skills are essential. Must possess a strong attention to detail.
- Able to communicate effectively with people at all levels. Must be an excellent listener and able to use sound, independent judgment while interacting with a diverse group of constituents. Handle several simultaneous tasks and work under time limits.
- Associates degree or equivalent is required, Bachelor’s degree preferred, preferably in finance, economics, or a related field. Some AIB classes, such as Principles of Banking, Consumer Lending, and Appraisal are desired. A combination of experience and education will be considered.
Physical demands:
Employee may experience the following physical demands for extended periods of time: view computer monitors, keyboarding, sitting, motion of fingers/hands/wrists, and standing/walking.
Location:
The primary location for the department is the Bank’s Stonehouse Operating Center located in Toano, VA. Employee will be required to travel to this location for work, unless otherwise approved by the Credit Manager.
Travel
Must be able to travel to the Downtown Richmond Financial Center as required.
Work Environment:
Work is performed in an operational office environment.
