C.H. Robinson is seeking an Associate Marine Engineer for their Project Logistics division. In this role, you will work closely with industry experts to gain a deep understanding of business processes and supply chain best practices. As a key member of the Solution Design team within Project Logistics, you will develop innovative transportation solutions, create detailed method statements, and foster strong relationships with internal teams, stakeholders, and the carrier community. Your specialized knowledge in lifting/lashing, transport, and maritime engineering will be essential to your success in this role. You will gain skills across various facets of the transportation and logistics industry and participate in large scale Capital projects. Additionally, you will support contract management, verify design compliance, and ensure the quality of engineering deliverables.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The duties and responsibilities of this position consists of, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Assist in designing and implementing transportation solutions for Project Logistic services, including collaborating with internal pricing teams and acting as a liaison to create method statements and transportation plans.
  • Stay informed of changes within customers’ business, industry, and sector through regular communication, applying that knowledge to identify new opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships across multidisciplinary teams and with external stakeholders, including customers, carriers, and suppliers.
  • Provide technical expertise in areas such as lifting, over-the-road transport, hydraulic transport, jack and slide operations, and maritime engineering.
  • Gain and apply skills across multiple facets of the transportation and logistics industry, including sales and negotiation, operations management, and transportation information systems.
  • Contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of marine vessels and systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Participate in high-impact projects, driving innovation and efficiency in maritime operations.
  • Support the integration of new technologies and methodologies to optimize supply chain and logistics processes.
  • Support contract management by partnering with the network, Legal, and other internal resources

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Marine Engineering or a Stationary Engineers License
  • Minimum 1-2 years of Engineering, project logistics, and/or Oil and Gas Industry experience
  • Ability to travel 10-25% of time (domestically and international)

Preferred:

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and AutoCAD.
  • Freight forwarding or heavy haul experience (preferably over-dimensional cargo and breakbulk)
  • Holds a EIT or PE designation
  • Ability to excel in a deadline-driven, team-oriented environment while also delivering independent results.
  • Strong relationship-building skills with internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Highly driven, enthusiastic, and motivated.
  • Proficient in interpreting technical diagrams and extracting relevant information for team use.
  • Skilled in using CAD software to produce detailed drawings for clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Capable of developing technical transport plans to ensure the suitability of transportation modes for clients.
  • Adept at conveying technical information in a clear and understandable manner to non-technical audiences.

Compensation Range

$65,300.00 - $135,600.00
