Job Title: Maintenance Technician (2nd Shift)

Shift: 2nd Shift, Monday - Friday, 2:15pm-10:15pm

Pay: Based on Experience

Division: Maintenance

Location: 123 W. Boxhorn Drive, Mukwonago, WI 53149

Summary: The Maintenance Technician at Banker Wire will be responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting a wide range of machinery, including both in-house developed and externally sourced equipment. This role requires strong mechanical aptitude, as well as proficiency in pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical systems. The technician will diagnose issues in systems designed with relay logic, PLC logic, or mechanical timing, perform basic machining, welding, or fabricating, and utilize a CMMS to log work orders and PM activities.

Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; maintenance degree/diploma in a relevant program preferred. Relevant experience or educational qualifications can substitute for direct experience. Willingness to receive internal or external education based on skill needs.

Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and carry heavy objects, stand for extended periods, and perform repetitive tasks. Manual dexterity and mechanical aptitude. Ability to work at heights up to 25 feet when necessary.

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Technical Proficiency:
  • Strong mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Familiarity with relay logic, basic understanding of PLC logic, and experience with mechanically timed systems; knowledge of PLC programming is a plus but not required.
  • Ability to perform basic machining, welding, and fabricating tasks.
  • Diagnostic Abilities:
  • Capable of diagnosing complex issues in mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Understanding of how to differentiate between programming and hardware issues in PLC systems.
  • Able to diagnose machinery, which may or may not have prints, using a combination of skills, feedback, and history.
  • CMMS Experience:
  • Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) for logging and tracking maintenance activities.
  • Communication Skills:
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to document maintenance activities accurately and comprehensively.
  • Safety Awareness:
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and regulations related to machinery maintenance.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.

Key Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Machinery Maintenance:
  • Perform regular maintenance on a variety of machines, ensuring optimal performance and longevity.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance tasks as scheduled by the CMMS.
  • Diagnose and repair machinery, which may or may not have prints, using troubleshooting skills, operator feedback, work order history, and team guidance.
  • Electrical and Mechanical Systems Diagnostics:
  • Diagnose and repair electrical issues in systems using relay logic or PLC logic.
  • Identify whether issues lie within the PLC program or the I/O of the system.
  • Troubleshoot mechanically timed systems.
  • Work safely with high and low-voltage systems, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
  • Mechanical Skills:
  • Utilize mechanical skills to disassemble, repair, and reassemble machinery components.
  • Perform basic machining, welding, and fabricating tasks as required for repairs and maintenance.
  • Implement modifications and improvements to enhance equipment performance and reliability.
  • CMMS Utilization:
  • Log reactive maintenance work orders and preventive maintenance activities in the CMMS.
  • Generate reports and maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and machinery history.
  • Follow up on work orders to ensure timely and effective completion of maintenance tasks.
  • Safety and Compliance:
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations, ensuring a safe working environment.
  • Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required for various tasks.
  • Participate in safety training sessions and contribute to a culture of safety in the workplace.
  • Work at heights up to 25 feet when necessary, following safety guidelines.
  • Collaboration and Communication:
  • Report to the Maintenance Supervisor and receive guidance from department managers/supervisors to help establish priorities.
  • Work closely with other maintenance technicians, engineers, and production staff to resolve issues and improve processes.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding maintenance activities and machinery status.
  • Provide training and support to junior technicians and other staff as needed.
