C-Lock Inc. manufactures precision equipment for measuring enteric gas emissions, feed intake, and weight gain in ruminants. C-Lock operates globally with headquarters in Rapid City, South Dakota, and equipment utilized in forty-three different countries. Our equipment provides accurate data for calculating animal efficiency, genetic selection, managing feeding regimens/supplementation, and measuring on-farm gas emissions. Data collected using C-Lock equipment is extensively used by corporations, universities, research institutions, and individual livestock producers. We are seeking experienced candidates for the position of Research Scientist to support education and communication of C-Lock products and technologies. This team member will work directly with our Chief Scientific Officer and assist with developing predictive models, authoring peer-reviewed scientific manuscripts, creating and implementing decision support tools using C-Lock data, and attending scientific conferences. We are looking for someone passionate about data and modeling.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement predictive models for heat production, methane emissions, feed intake, RFI, etc.
- Gather and integrate data from various sources, conducting data cleaning and additional processing as needed to ensure data accuracy and consistency
- Coordinate the collection of additional modeling parameters (e.g., ration energy, lactation stage, parity) from clients
- Stay up to date with ongoing client trials and research efforts
- Utilize SQL to access the expansive C-Lock database and apply statistical and machine learning techniques to derive meaningful insights, patterns, and correlations
- Author and/or review scientific publications (including abstracts, manuscripts, and webinars) related to C-Lock research and products
- Utilize R to create tables, figures, and graphs for presentations and publications
- Serve as a liaison between science, data, and marketing teams
- Collaborate with the data team to develop meaningful dashboards, scripts, and analysis tools
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously and maintain consistent progress
Qualifications
- Master’s or Doctorate degree in Animal Science or related field
- Efficient in Microsoft Office and Google platforms
- Advanced understanding of statistical analysis and ability to work with large data sets
- Must have strong written communication skills
- Moderate understanding of ruminant energy partitioning and nutrition
Compensation will be $90,000-102,000 per year depending on experience. The position is a Monday through Friday work week in our Rapid City office. This person should be able to collaborate with data, marketing, and engineering teams and adapt to dynamic priorities.
