A Grand Rapids law firm is seeking an experienced Legal Secretary – Litigation to support its litigation team. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, detail-oriented, and committed to exceptional client service. They should be able to work both independently and collaboratively.
The role involves preparing and filing legal documents, transcribing dictation, proofreading, scheduling depositions and court hearings, and maintaining case-related calendars. Additional duties include handling calls, routing mail, managing client files, coordinating document deliveries, and assisting with billing and expense tracking. The legal secretary will also provide general administrative support, attend staff meetings, and maintain confidentiality in all firm matters.
Candidates should have at least 2-3 years of legal experience; a bachelor’s degree in legal studies is preferred. Proficiency in MS Office Suite and legal document management software is required, along with strong typing (30 wpm), proofreading, and multitasking abilities. The position demands excellent communication, organizational skills, and the ability to work under minimal supervision.
This is a full-time, in-person role, with hours from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday-Friday. Occasional overtime may be required. Experience with iManage, Adarant, EAPro, or Intapp is a plus.
