Safety Coordinator

C. M. Mitchell Construction, LOCATED IN SNEADS FERRY, NC, provides earthwork, demolition, underground utilities, and asphalt paving for roads and parking areas for commercial, residential, municipality, government and NCDOT, as well as aggregate trucking.

We are looking for a Safety Coordinator (entry to mid-level) to help us minimize the risk of job-related accidents. You will monitor operations to eliminate hazardous activities. You will develop policies to promote occupational health and safety (OSH) awareness. Safety coordinators should be well-versed in all OSH dictations. Your work will be focused on prevention, so you will need to be diligent and analytical. You will possess a keen eye for detail and a sensitivity for potential dangers. The goal is to support the creation of a healthy and safe workplace.

Responsibilities

• Advise on methodology to minimize safety risks
• Monitor compliance of C. M. Mitchell and OSH safety policies (e.g. accident reporting process)
• Keep records of safety-related incidents and propose corrective actions
• Maintain and manage safety records, logbooks, and documentation as required
• Organize and track safety training of site staff
• Facilitate safety dialogue include Safety Meetings and Toolbox Talk Meetings
• Ensure all safety related checklists, documents and forms are developed and are in compliance with OSHA standards
• Collaborate with managers to monitor compliance and identify safety issues
• Collaborate with project managers and site superintendents to ensure daily, monthly and quarterly site and equipment inspections are completed
• Liaise with and report to official regulatory bodies on OSH matters
• Make daily job site visits to observe, correct any potentially hazardous situations, and report to management.
• Accompany inspectors and other health and safety representatives when on premises or at job sites.

Skills

• Candidates MUST BE ABLE TO OBTAIN BASE PASS TO WORK ABOARD CAMP LEJEUNE
• Candidates MUST HAVE a valid driver's license and good driving record
• Minimum 2 years' experience working with OSHA safety procedures in the construction industry required
• Knowledge of OSHA and EM-395.11 requirements
• Experience in reporting and developing policies
• Experience in implementing OSHA training programs
• Proficient in MS Office
• Excellent communication and advisory skills
• Diligent with an analytical mind
• High School Diploma required
• Associates or Bachelors Degree preferred
• First Aid/CPR Training
• 30-hour OSHA Construction Industry Training Class
