C&M, located in Hudson, NH is looking for a part-time gauge maker to support its operation.
A skilled craftsperson who fabricates, repairs, and maintains precision tools, often utilizing blueprints and various machine tools to create custom fixtures and gauges with precise dimensions and tolerances, ensuring high-quality production in manufacturing processes; typically works with a variety of metals, requiring a strong understanding of material properties and machining techniques.
Key responsibilities:
- Read and interpret blueprints and design sketches to accurately translate design specifications into functional fixtures and gauges.
- Operate CNC machines to precisely cut and shape metal components for fixtures and gauges.
- Employ hand tools like files, grinders, and measuring instruments to finish and refine parts.
- Work with Engineering to choose appropriate metals based on project requirements and desired properties.
- Assemble and fit together various components to ensure proper functionality.
- Thoroughly check finished product with Quality Control for accuracy and conformance to specifications using precision measuring devices.
- Identify and resolve issues with existing gauges during production.
- Collaborate with engineers and production teams to ensure products meet production needs.
Required skills and qualifications:
- Technical skills: Strong understanding of machining principles, metalworking techniques, and precision measurement.
- Mechanical aptitude: Ability to visualize and assemble complex mechanical components
- Attention to detail: High level of accuracy and precision in all work tasks
- Problem-solving abilities: Capability to diagnose and resolve manufacturing issues related to tools and dies
- Education and training: Typically requires a high school diploma, completion of a machinist apprenticeship program, or a trade school certificate.
