What are the responsibilities and job description for the Construction Purchaser/Estimator position at C & M PROPERTIES AND CONSTRUCTION INC?
C&M is a new home builder out of Eau Claire, WI looking for a purchaser/estimator to join our team. Please see job description below. Compensation is based on experience.
Prepares work to be estimated by gathering proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents. Identifies labor, material and time requirements by studying proposals, blueprints, specifications and related documents. Computes costs by analyzing labor, material and time requirements. Determining key variables for cost and other estimates. Help create a proposal, track the costs of a project, understand customer specifications, and propose the final budget for a project.
Job Duties:
- Responsible for estimating all jobs through builder software.
- Work with contractors on estimating and pricing.
- Complete estimates in two weeks upon approved plans.
- Monitor and keep all package pricing updated.
- Help code job bills for draws.
- Analyze labor, material and time requirements for a project.
- Estimate the cost by looking at the entire project.
- Prepare cost estimates.
- Ensure timely completion of estimates.
- Understand scope of work to bid.
- Input data into a company database.
- Communicate with trade partners and team members regarding new and current projects.
- Follow up on difference between estimated and actual cost.
- Work with sales team to prepare proposals.
- Establish and maintain working relationships with vendors and subcontractors.
- Get all material take offs through builder software.
- Set up contractor meetings for estimating/invoicing through builder software.

Qualification and Skills:
- Strong math skills including algebra, geometry, and basic arithmetic
- Ability to navigate specifications and plans
- Ability to handle multiple assignments at once.
- Close attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Education and Experience Requirements:
- A bachelors degree in mathematics or architecture OR certificate in general construction, roofing, or electric is preferred but not required. We will train the right person!
- At least 2 years of related experience
