C Management, Inc. (CMI), the association management division of MJH Life Sciences, provides trusted and dynamic management services for associations, foundations, and non-profits in the healthcare field. CMI manages the Association of Community Cancer Centers (ACCC), a national oncology non-profit organization for the multidisciplinary cancer care community, as well the Oncology State Societies (OSS) at ACCC, a network of 23 state oncology societies that provide a state- and regional-level focus into the complexities of cancer care delivery. We are seeking an experienced Director with a passion for developing and maintaining collaborative relationships with corporate members and professional partner organizations in support of our clients.
ABOUT THE ROLE:
The Director of Clinical Strategy plays a key role in supporting our work in Business Development by ensuring the appropriate clinical insights have been considered as we develop educational initiatives that help to fill knowledge gaps among our membership. The Director of Clinical Strategy helps to bridge the clinical with the operational as it relates to creating a well-rounded, comprehensive strategy for our funders and cancer programs who receive and use the education to help solve their challenges and barriers to optimal patient care. To accomplish this effectively, the Director of Clinical Strategy maintains a solid pulse in two main areas:
- Clinical insights, goals and challenges of ACCC Corporate Members – the primary funders of our work
- Membership alignment with cancer programs and providers around operational barriers and knowledge gaps that need to be addressed
The Director of Clinical Strategy is a member of the Business Development team, reporting to the Sr. Director of Corporate Relations and Development, and is deeply aligned with internal cross-functional teams while also being externally facing within the oncology field to stay abreast of the latest trends, innovations and therapies that can translate into future education for our members.
Responsibilities:
Clinical Insights/Business Development
- Collaborate closely with Executive Director, Business Development and Provider Education to identify educational funding opportunities that align with member needs
- Deepen relationships with existing corporate members and partners to identify future strategic collaboration opportunities – and ways to grow existing programs beyond “year to year” thinking
- Research, evaluate, and monitor developments in oncology therapeutic and supportive care innovation, cancer diagnostics, and cancer care delivery and access.
- Report on clinical strategy activities and initiatives to ACCC Executive Committee and Board of Trustees when applicable
- Serve as a key stakeholder in the proposal development and review process by infusing clinical insights into the operational work we do, bridging the two for unique, well-rounded ideas and value propositions
- Oversee the maintenance and evolution of the Clinical Insights database, developed to support the team in deepening their understanding of pharmaceutical/biotech landscape, upcoming PDUFA dates, areas of alignment with ACCC education and funder priorities
- Attend industry events to meet with corporate members and support business development in presentation of area
- Manage and oversee the Medical Writer
Member Alignment: Corporate and Provider
- Work closely and collaboratively with the Provider Education team to perform on-going reviews and understanding of ACCC portfolio areas, combined with stated member educational needs that may not currently be funded by industry to drive new educational programing and revenue aligned with those needs
- Conduct member program site visits periodically throughout the year to stay abreast of cancer care center operations and how clinical oncology translates to the operations and business of oncology, through a multi-disciplinary lens
- Build upon existing provider resources by identifying unmet needs and developing innovative strategies and tools to support membership in an evolving healthcare environment.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
- Advanced health sciences degree or equivalent experience level.
- Five to seven years of experience working in a health care delivery system, association, professional society, or related field.
- Two to four years of experience working in the pharmaceutical industry preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and comfort with speaking and presenting in front of high-level stakeholders to articulate clients’ needs accurately and effectively.
- Strong customer service focus.
- Ability to work independently and cross-departmentally with minimal supervision.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, effectively manage time, prioritize work, meet required deadlines, and multi-task across assignments.
- A passion for influencing the future of cancer care delivery.
- Availability for overnight travel to attend meetings and provide on-site assistance, estimated at approximately 15%
