Who are you?

You are a strategic relationship builder with a passion for helping businesses grow and communities succeed. We’re looking for a Regional Retail Business Development Officer to join our team and lead the charge in expanding small business and retail relationships throughout our Southeast region. In this high-impact, client-facing role, you’ll work closely with regional leadership and branch teams to identify new business opportunities, strengthen existing partnerships, and drive growth through personalized, community-focused strategies. Your ability to connect with people, understand their unique financial needs, and match them with meaningful solutions will be key to your success. You will be responsible for:

  1. Developing & Expanding Relationships – Proactively engage with small business and retail clients to build lasting relationships and grow your book of business.

  2. Driving Business Development – Identify new opportunities through outreach, networking, and participation in community events, with a focus on meeting and exceeding individual and regional goals.

  3. Promoting Financial Solutions – Match client needs with retail and small business products and services, and make referrals to internal partners for lending, wealth, or other specialized solutions.

  4. Delivering a Superior Customer Experience – Ensure each client interaction is meaningful and solutions-oriented, representing the C&N brand with professionalism and care.

  5. Training & Supporting Branch Teams – Provide guidance and training to branch staff on business development best practices, product knowledge, and relationship management.

  6. Collaborating Across Departments – Work closely with regional leaders, retail teams, and product specialists to deliver a seamless, customer-centered experience.

Requirements:

Education & Experience – You will need a Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience AND 4–6 years of sales and leadership experience in banking or a related field.

Skills – You should possess well-developed abilities and a proven track record in the following areas:

  • Sales & Relationship Building – Demonstrated success in generating new business, deepening client relationships, and delivering exceptional service.

  • Strategic Thinking – Ability to plan and execute effective outreach strategies that align with customer needs and business goals.

  • Communication & Collaboration – Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage confidently with clients, colleagues, and community partners.

  • Flexibility & Travel – This role requires regular travel throughout the Southeast region to meet with clients and support branch teams.
