The Board of Fire and Police Commissioners for the Village of Glenwood is now accepting applications for the Police Officer position.

Testing is being conducted to establish an eligibility list for immediate and future department hiring needs.

The Glenwood Police Department is committed to creating and maintaining a professional and community-oriented police department. With its diverse Department, it is equipped and trained to handle various types of emergency situations. In addition, their officers are involved in a variety of in-house specialties, regional task forces, and specialized units such as:

Ø South Suburban Emergency Response Team (SWAT)

Ø South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force

Ø Mobile Field Force

Ø Suburban Major Accident Reconstruction Team

Ø Regional Tactical Units

Ø Full-Time Investigation Division

Ø Bike Patrol

Ø Sustained Traffic Enforcement Program, grant funds for overtime details.

Ø Firearms instructors

Ø Evidence Technicians

Ø Defensive Tactics Instructors

You must meet the following minimum requirements:

· Citizenship: Must be a U.S. Citizen or an individual who has permanent resident status and is legally authorized to work in the United States. Must under federal law, be authorized to obtain, carry, purchase, or otherwise possess a firearm.

· Driver’s License: Must possess a valid Driver’s License.

· Age requirement: Applicants must have attained their 21st Birthday at the last date for filing applications 2/12/25. Applicants must be under the age of 35 years old at the last date of filing applications 2/12/25 and at the time the Final Eligibility Register is posted unless they have been certified and employed as a full-time Police Officer for a municipality in the United States or are otherwise exempt by State Statute 65 IL 5/10-2.1-6.

· Education: Must have proof of High School Diploma, GED Certificate or High School Proficiency Statement.

· Character: Must have no felony convictions and be of good moral character as described in State Statute 65 IL 5/10-2.1-6.

· P.O.W.E.R. Card: A POWER Card must be presented upon passing the written test to move on to the oral interview. Power Card must be dated within 1 year of the test date. Applicants must submit a copy of an Illinois POWER (Peace Officer Wellness Evaluation Report) test card upon request.

· A POWER test card can be secured at one of the following locations:

· Vision: Correctable to 20/20 in both eyes.

· Testing: Must be able to successfully complete all phases of testing.
