What are the responsibilities and job description for the Direct Support Professional position at C&S Healthcare Services, Inc.?
JOB SUMMARY:
The Agency shall employ Direct Support Professionals that has the ability to provide support services as required DODD rules for serving individuals with developmental disabilities. DSP shall provide support services under the supervision and training of a qualified agency staff person. DSP will be provided training specified by DODD prior to implementing services and on-going training according to DODD training requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A High School graduate of GED.
- Has successfully completed a Nurse Aide Training course or DSP Training.
- Has one year of experience in direct care within the last three years.
- Pass Background Check, Data Base Checks, First Aid/CPR.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Understand and adhere to established agency policies and procedures.
2. Completes agency and DODD required training hours (30) prior to service implementation and on-going based upon DODD training rules.
3. Complete 8 hours of Annual Training on DODD on-line training or arranged by the agency using content consistent with DODD requirements.
4. Understand and practice within the NADAP Core competencies.
5. Understand and provide support based upon core principles in the NADSP Code of Ethics.
6. Understands and adhere to infection control procedures/protocols.
7. Understand and monitor health-related issues and how to intervene when appropriate/required.
8. Utilize Person-centered approaches to support individuals.
9. Understand and respect Individual rights.
10. Provide support for self-determination and self advocacy.
11. Facilitate community integration and Inclusion for Individuals.
12. Understand UI/MUI rules for identification, intervention, reporting and documentation of UI/MUI and prevention strategies.
13. Deliver service/support as directed in the ISP, Individual requests and/or supervisory request.
14. Provide an atmosphere for building relationships of trust through support and sensitivity.
15. Communicate with Empathetic Concern when individuals need emotional support and in general practice.
16. Assist with ADL/IADL and directed.
17. Provide skills reinforcement as deemed appropriate or requested in ISP.
18. Provide opportunities to experience recreation and leisure.
19. Grocery assessment, planning and shopping.
20. Errands for picking up prescriptions and/or other medical supplies.
21. Laundry, sorting, folding, ironing and properly storing the laundry.
22. Document all services/supports provided using DODD documentation guidelines.
23. Report Changes in the condition of individuals to supervisor when required.
24. Maintain basic safety measures for self and individuals in all areas and community.
25. Periodically review emergency protocols.
26. Follow the ISP carefully, pay close attention to what is important to the individual and for the individuals.
27. Document service delivery as required and focus on outcomes.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
Works in agency office, individual's residence, support centers and in community.

Ability to perform the following task if necessary:
