What are the responsibilities and job description for the 1st/2nd Shift CNC Machinist position at C&S Machine?
C&S Machine has 1st and 2nd shift CNC Machinist openings. You’ll ensure the continuous and efficient running of production, maximizing efficiency and profits, and maintaining the highest quality parts.
C&S offers a 2nd shift premium of $45 dollars/shift!
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Set up & run machines (calibration, cleaning, etc.) to start a production cycle. Preferably in an ultra precision / aerospace environment.
- Control and adjust machine settings (e.g. speed).
- Feed raw material or parts to semi-automated machines.
- Inspect parts with precision and measuring tools.
- Test operation of machines periodically.
- Fix issues that might occur during the shift.
- Check output to spot any machine-related mistakes or flaws.
- Keep records of approved and defective units or final products.
- Maintain activity logs.
- Must work in a conscientious fashion, keep work area and equipment neat and clean and practice basic safety habits.
- Must be willing to be trained to program and set-up.
- Responsible to verify changes to production processes are assessed to confirm that the desired effect has been achieved without adverse effects to product conformity.
REQUIREMENTS
- Previous experience as a machine operator preferred
- Working knowledge of diverse high-speed machinery and measurement tools (caliper, micrometer, etc.)
- Understanding of production procedures
- Adherence to health and safety regulations (e.g. constant use of protective gear)
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics and manuals
- Analytical skills
- Attention to detail
- Teamwork and communication skills

PREFERRED MINIMUM EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
A high school diploma or G.E.D., or should be currently attending high school while working as a co-op student. Machining experience, or in the process of developing machining experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Able to read English.
MATHMATICAL SKILLS
Able to perform basic math skills and keep accurate product counts.
REASONING ABILITY
Should be able to think for themselves most of the time, but understand when to ask questions.
COMPUTER SKILLS
Knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Ability to use basic gauging and tooling applicable to department, such as indicating micrometers, test indicators, gauge blocks, digital micrometers, and depth micrometers.
Leadership qualities.
