What are the responsibilities and job description for the Switchgear Technician position at C&S Maintenance?
Job Responsibilities and Expectations
- Dis-assemble in-shop low and medium voltage circuit breakers, refurbish, re-assemble and test.
- Trouble shoot and repair circuit breakers, switchgear, and motor control in shop and in the field during planned and emergency outages.
- Perform in-shop, field, maintenance and testing on circuit breakers and switchgear.
- Perform in-shop and field testing including: Megger, Ductor, Hi-Pot, High Current, and Timing Tests.
- Wiring of circuit breakers and switchboards.
- Be able to read schematics and wiring diagrams.
- Possess good communicating skills and have a solid work ethic.
- Minimum of 2 years' industrial power system experience preferred.
- Must be mechanically inclined and able to work with basic hand tools.
- Be able to operate electrical test equipment.
- Be able to fill out test reports and interpret results.
- Must have valid driver's and good driving record.
- Pre-employment and random drug testing required.
- Pre-employment national back ground check required.
- Must be willing to work over-time, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Must be available for after hour emergencies.
- Compensation based on experience level.
- Must be available for over night and out of town work when required.
