As a heavy highway construction truck driver at C.S. McCrossan, you will be responsible for driving a variety of trucks including concrete trucks, dump trucks, boom trucks, fuel trucks, flat beds, low boy trucks, etc.
Your responsibilities may include transporting heavy equipment from location to location, pulling/extending hoses, cleaning the box of the truck, climbing up to boom seat to transfer materials, and additional tasks related to driving a particular truck as required.
All drivers must apply knowledge of commercial driving regulations and may operate the vehicles for long periods of time.
You will also be required to complete a pre-trip inspection prior to operation to assure that the vehicle is functioning properly and maneuver a truck into positions following signals from other employees.
The ideal candidate will possess a high school diploma or GED equivalent, basic reading, writing and math skills, strong verbal communication skills, hand signals, and a general knowledge of the heavy highway construction industry.
A CDL license is also required. Additionally, you should have reliable transportation.
The physical demands of this job include lifting (including above shoulder or head), moving, and carrying up to 50 pounds frequently.
You will frequently stand, walk, sit, use hands to input information, handle, carry (with and without assistance), feel objects, tools (of varying size and weight), or controls.
Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
Frequent exposure to high noise levels is also expected.
You will work in areas where heavy equipment, power tools and traffic are present, exposing you to heights up to 50 feet and depths of up to 80 feet.
The estimated salary range for this position is $60,000 - $80,000 per year, depending on experience.
