Range Safety Officer/ Instructor

We are looking for a hardworking, reliable, and engaging Range Safety Officer to work at C&S Shooting Sports. You must be comfortable working around firearms. You must be available to work on weekends and Holidays.

Responsibilities include-maintaining a safe environment on the shooting range as well as limited instruction, as needed, to customers.

Other duties include:

• Educating shooters to reduce incidents from occurring, issuing warnings to those who do not obey the rules and removing shooters from the range who pose a threat to themselves and others.
• Clearing gun stoppages and malfunctions, misfires, hang-fires, and squib loads.
• Assisting customers with setting up their targets, ensuring that targets are placed correctly on the backer board to prevent ceiling damage, explaining and assisting with programming carriers, and entering programs into carriers.
• Assisting new shooters with first visit forms.
• Checking in new shooters at the range office.
• Assigning shooters lanes from range office.
• Checking out shooters leaving the range.
• Being in the best position behind shooters that allows control of the firing line.
• RSO’s have the responsibility to educate range users and enforce shooting range rules.
• RSO’ enforce the NRA Gun Safety Rules:
• Always keep gun pointed in a safe direction
• Treat guns as though they are always loaded
• Keep your finger off the trigger until you are ready to shoot
• Always be sure of your target and what’s beyond it.
• Providing private instruction for new and advanced shooters
• Monitoring All shooters on the range to ensure safety
• Ensuring that the range is clean.
• Knowledge of federal and state laws governing the sale of ammunition.

Minimum Requirements:

Knowledge and passion for the sport of shooting; working knowledge of firearms. Ability to develop effective working relationships with customers, members, staff, and representatives of other businesses and organizations. Must be able to bend and stoop to accomplish stocking, distributing ammo, attach targets to carriers, operate carriers and clean up brass. The employee must occasionally lift/move up to 70 pounds. Specific vision abilities required including ability to see distance and adjust focus. Point of Sale experience preferred. Results of National Sex Offender Public Registry search and the criminal background check must yield no findings.
