GENERAL FUNCTION :
This role is responsible for developing templates for the Chyron Camio graphics system used across C-SPAN platforms. The ideal candidate possesses a strong technical understanding of graphics production, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently under tight deadlines.
RESPONSIBILITIES :
Prepares and builds graphic templates for on-air use, ensuring user tools function correctly within the Chyron Camio system. This includes :
In Adobe Photoshop :
Separating artwork into components
Adjusting color and opacity
Resizing as needed
Creating an alpha channel for keying transparency
Converting components into .TGA files (or similar) for import
In Chyron Lyric :
Importing graphic elements as .TGA files (or similar) and arranging them to replicate the original artwork
Selecting appropriate fonts
Creating templates for use in LUCI, ensuring maximum flexibility for end users
Uploading completed graphics to Camio with appropriate metadata and context
Follows guidance provided by the Newsroom Systems Manager.
Maintains advanced knowledge of character generator hardware, software, and networking systems.
Demonstrates leadership skills, with or without managerial oversight, in alignment with corporate values, the C-SPAN mission, technical operation standards, and on-air presentation guidelines.
Performs other duties as assigned.
BACKGROUND & SKILLS :
Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
Minimum of four years of relevant work experience.
Proficiency in operating graphics composition equipment, including Chyron Lyric, Adobe Photoshop, and other related technical tools, while adhering to productivity and quality control standards.
Strong interest in public affairs, politics, and current events, with an understanding of C-SPAN programming and philosophy.
Demonstrated graphic design and television production experience.
Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and proficiency in grammar and spelling.
Ability to work under pressure and consistently meet deadlines.
Capacity to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
Flexibility with work hours, including evenings and weekends.
Creativity and efficiency in producing high-quality graphics within tight time constraints and with limited resources.
